Saturday, June 15
5 pm
Vermont maestro Paul Asbell, along with three other Vermont jazz luminaries come to the Meeting House on the Green Saturday, June 15. Paul, who has played and recorded with Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Paul Butterfield, Jon Henricks and Bobby McFerrin, takes the stage with internationally acclaimed long-time bandmates Gabe Jarrett on drums, Clyde Stats on bass and – featured for this event – Michael Zsoldos on sax. Michael is a St. Albans native and has performed with Bernadette Peters and The Temptations, among many others. We're excited to welcome him to The Meeting House stage.
These exemplary musicians have performed across the United States and Europe, bringing their jazz mastery and eclectic repertoire to ever-widening audiences.
Aside from rich performance and recording schedules, band members also nurture future generations of players by teaching at the university level throughout the region. Paul has taught guitar for over 50 years including positions at Dartmouth, Skidmore, and currently at Middlebury and UVM. Michael is senior lecturer in jazz & classical saxophone and music theory, and the director of the Performance Lab in Jazz Improvisation at Dartmouth College. Gabe teaches percussion at Suny/Plattsburgh and has also taught at Vermont State University-Johnson. Clyde is a senior lecturer in the Department of Music and Dance at UVM, where he teaches a variety of classes.
Join this acclaimed quartet on an expansive journey through genres of jazz, blues, and everything in between – all delivered with the panache, precision, and magic that only world-class musicians who have played together for multiple decades can create.
