Galen Cassidy Peria, also known as Duke Aeroplane, says he was born at a very young age somewhere far south of here. He is a song-finder, wordsmith, filmmaker, student of the cards, histrionic, and excitable drinker. He is based in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he makes a highly regarded crawfish étouffée, plays piano for his cat, lights candles to St. Jude, reads mouldering paperback novels, and screams at televised baseball. His brings the gumbo-steeped vibe of piano legends like Fats Domino, Professor Long Hair, Jelly Roll Morton, and Dr. John to every song he renders – all with predictably powerful results. With a virtuosic command of the piano and a voice conjured from the live oak moss-draped miasma of the Louisianan swamps, Duke Aeroplan – along with The Rumbirds – will bring some serious Mojo to Northern Vermont when they show up in town. Watch out!
