“Always compelling, always musical…there is something about Mallett’s phrasing that lends an urgency and boldness to his songs. His deep clear voice has a storyteller’s naturalness to it, a poet’s intelligence.”
- Scott Alarik, Boston Globe

"David Mallett is the best folk singer alive in America today."
—Cape Cod Times
David Mallett is one of America's true original troubadours. In a career spanning four decades, he has recorded 17 albums, had several hundred covers of his songs, including the American folk classic "Garden Song" [Inch by Inch] and performed in clubs, concert halls and festivals across the US, Canada and Europe. He has appeared on numerous broadcasts, including National Public Radio's A Prairie Home Companion. Known for his carefully written, poetic offerings, his body of work has provided material for an eclectic list of artists that includes Alison Krauss, Pete Seeger, Hal Ketchum, Emmylou Harris, John Denver and the Muppets.
Mallett’s most recent release, Celebration, is a 10-song collection with themes ranging from resilience to despair to the boundless promise of a new generation. With the sensibilities of a storyteller and the passions of a poet, Mallett crafts imagery that evokes a past of Main Streets and summer dances, rambling farmhouses and the families who lived and loved there. His work is a continuation of the American tradition and echoes with the spirit of Stephen Foster and the poetry of Frost, Sandburg, and Guthrie. Mallett’s music is a reminder of connection with the earth and with days gone by – and of the memories and dreams that sustain us.
We're delighted and proud to welcome Dave Mallett and bass player Michael Burd back to The Meeting House for what is sure to be
another unforgettable evening.
